GPS-accurate. 1:50000
p>Destination:
p>
ul>
From Tegernsee via Achensee and Zillertal to Sterzing - this route leads over the main Alpine ridge to Italy on easy to moderately difficult paths.

The seven stages, each 11 to 22 km long, not only provide an insight into very different mountain landscapes, but also into the diversity of Alpine cultural landscapes in Upper Bavaria, Tyrol and South Tyrol.

A highlight is the third stage along the western shore of Lake Achensee with magnificent views of the Rofan and plenty of opportunities to take a dip in the lake.

The Zillertal, a side valley of the Inn Valley, can be reached by steam cog railroad and Zillertalbahn. From Fügen, the route leads up to the Spieljoch and along a beautiful high-altitude trail via Hochfügen to Melchboden and Mayrhofen.

The highlight of the walking tour is the crossing of the main Alpine ridge: from the Schlegeis reservoir, you hike over the Pfitzscher Joch (2248 m) into the Pfitschtal valley.

Rustic farmhouses and typical South Tyrolean stone churches characterize the South Tyrolean valley, which leads down to Sterzing. There, the Gothic town center with plenty of colourfully painted town houses is a delight.
