Description

The Alpe Adria Cycle Path begins with a highlight - the Mozart city of Salzburg. And so it continues - one after the other, the valleys worth seeing line up on your way to the Adriatic. At the beginning is the idyllic Salzach Valley with its lush green alpine pastures, followed by the Gastein Valley with the absolute highlight - in the truest sense of the word - Bad Gastein high in the mountains and finally the end of the first section, the Tauern lock Böckstein-Mallnitz. After the train ride, you descend into the Mölltal valley - through the impressive high mountain landscape you reach the sunny Drautal valley with the towns of Spittal and Villach, which are well worth seeing.

After the Gailtal valley, you cross the border and finally end up on the old railroad line high above the wildly rugged Kanaltal valley. After the section along the Tagliamento and Cormor rivers, the lively city of Udine awaits you. From here, you cross the plain towards the Adriatic Sea - via Palmanova and Aquileia, you cycle along the historic Via Julia Augusta into the lagoon and finally reach the enchanting fishing town of Grado.
<p
